The majority of this collection is E.L Moulton's correspondence concerning his business affairs with the Lucia Cash Store in Lucy, New Mexico (1910), Corona Trading Company in Lincoln County, a subsidiary of Ilfeld Company (1912), and Ilfeld Company in Albuquerque (1920-1952), which includes correspondence with Max Nordhaus. There is correspondence generated from Moulton's civic obligations with the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, New Mexico Parking Authority, Rotary Club, etc. Letters (1943-1958) from Dr. Everett B. King of the First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, discuss financial matters of the church. Other correspondence, postcards, birthday and holiday cards are from his sister and brothers. Clippings, publications, and pamphlets from the late 1940's concern Native American, particularly Navajo social and economic conditions. This oral history project consists of 26 individual interviews with former Navajo uranium miners or family members on 27 different cassette tapes. This collection also contains 11 video recordings containing 3 interviews, scenery shots from the mines and the area where the miners lived, as well as some miscellaneous, untranscribed interviews. Excerpts from the interviews and still, black and white photographs were compiled into a book entitled, Memories come to us in the rain and the wind: oral histories and photographs of Navajo uranium miners and their families. A copy of this book is in the collection. This project addressess the health issues such as some of the effects of prolonged exposure to radioactive uranium and the failure of health officials to educate the Navajo on safety issues and potential dangers regarding uranium. This project also shows how many Navajo miners who got cancer and other diseases from working in the mines, were not compensated

Correspondence, interviews, research notes, source materials, writings and photographs from the files of Solon Toothaker Kimball, primarily relating to his work in Ireland (1930's) and among the Navajo (1936-1942) -- Papers mainly result from Kimball's anthropological research in rural County Clare, Ireland, during the early 1930's with colleague, Conrad Arensberg, and materials from Kimball's return visit to Ireland in 1968 in preparation for a second edition of Family and community in Ireland. In addition to research notes, there are extensive newspaper clippings and census materials, as well as the theses of Kimball and Arensberg, and manuscript and printer's proof copies of their joint book. As a whole, this archive offers an in-depth and critical engagement with New Deal politics and their effects on the Navajo reservation. Correspondence (1924-1974): This series consists of official correspondence from the Department of the Interior, the Office of Indian Affairs, Commissioner John Collier, Senator Dennis Chavez, J.C. Morgan, the Department of Interior Field Services, and other federal, state, and local organizations.
