The posters are mostly in full color with texts featuring Amharic, English, French, Italian, Arabic and Swahili languages in 3 scripts: mainly in Ethiopic and roman, with some also in Arabic

The Harold G. Marcus papers consist of research notes, drafts, correspondence, and personal papers. Also included are photocopies of reports from American, British and Italian archives, photographs, pamphlets, offprints, and unpublished papers. It should be noted that Ethiopia does not use the Gregorian calendar. The Career and Record series includes notes from undergraduate classes and an academic record from Boston University, correspondence and other material relating to Marcus' recruitment by Michigan State University, grant applications (restricted), and Marcus' obituary. The Research Notes series consists of photocopies of reports from American, British and Italian archives and Marcus' field notes. Also included are notes, grant applications, and audio recordings from an Ethiopian Oral History project. Kowalsky and Metzler indicate that this series is rich and diverse, holding a variety of types of materials from many countries. "There are, for example, the protocol minutes of sessions of the Congregation; reports of a variety of content and composition; a variety of papers gathered here either because it did not seem useful to arrange them in the Archives or because it could not be decided in which collection they belonged; papers which had belonged to private persons and which are sometimes of a literary nature; diaries and reports on journeys, etc." (p. 71)
